NAC Breda is targeting a direct return to Eredivisie with the signing of Paul Gladon from Fortuna Sittard. The 34-year-old striker has signed a two-year deal with the Brabanders. In Breda, the general consensus was that the lack of scoring power was one of the main factors behind the relegation. Since that problem can be overcome, it was clear that NAC had set its sights on the transfer-free Gladon. The experienced striker was five times on target for Fortuna in the Eredivisie last season. However, that is not the only reason NAC has brought him on board. 'Paul can naturally become important with his play, but we also expect him to make the other, mostly young, attackers stronger,' says technical director Peter Maas on the club website. Gladon showed in talks with NAC that he is eager to help the club promote. The Haarlemmer is looking forward to the home games in Breda. 'Every time I played against NAC, I was impressed by the supporters in the Rat Verlegh Stadium. NAC comes across as a great club. We want to fight for promotion full-time.' With Gladon, NAC has brought in a striker with experience in the foreign land and the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. At the beginning of his career, Gladon was good for 30 goals, spread over two seasons at FC Dordrecht and Sparta Rotterdam. In the Eredivisie, he scored 33 times for clubs such as FC Emmen, FC Groningen, Fortuna, Heracles and Willem II.
